Currently we can filter leaderboards/feeds by spot, state, country, or continents. Filtering by spot is sometimes too specific and filtering state is usually not specific enough. For example, most people in San Francisco would want to know who are the top 5 in the Bay Area. Not the top 5 in all of CA. Similarly for the feeds, it’s fun to go on the app and see posts from other people who kited that day in the Bay Area. It gives you an idea of what other spots were windy and where else you could have kited. It’s not that useful to see a feed of people from all over CA since a lot of that wind was not accessible to people in the Bay Area.
Pre-coding regions would be very time consuming and it wouldn’t scale very well. But allowing users to set their feed based on a custom radius should be very doable and provide a good experience. A similar example would be the search radius in Facebook marketplace (see photo in link below).
